Laurent Koscielny to return for Arsenal

Laurent Koscielny to return for Arsenal: The Arsenal captain is set to return to Arsenal after seven months of absence.

The Arsenal captain suffered an achilles injury last season, which ruled him out for the World Cup in France. Koscielny is yet to make an appearance for Arsenal under Unai Emery.

The centre-back returned to competitive football for the Arsenal U23s as they took on Derby County, and made an appearance for the U21s against Portsmouth in the Checkatrade Trophy.

However, his preparations for comeback suffered a setback as the defender limped off the field in the final minutes of the game, which grew concern over Koscielny’s condition. After speculations that he has aggravated the injury, it was later understood that the defender suffered with cramps.

Sky has now reported that Koscielny is set to make a comeback for Arsenal against Huddersfield. Here are the full details:

Koscielny set to return for Arsenal:

After seven months of absence from the first-team action, Koscielny is set to make a return to Arsenal’s senior side.

The Arsenal captain is likely to make a comeback against Huddersfield on Saturday this week. Before the game, however, Arsenal await a tough test at Old Trafford, as the Gunners will clash against Manchester United in the mid-week fixture.

Koscielny missed the success with France at the World Cup in Russia this summer, and announced his international retirement earlier in the season.

However, the defender had been steering his comeback in the new season for Arsenal.

The defender’s last game for Arsenal was against Atletico Madrid in the Europa League semifinal, where the player lasted merely 12 minutes before being substituted.

Sky Sports reports that the player was assessed earlier this morning after a potential injury-scare, and has passed fit. Koscielny has been given an all clear to feature in the game against Huddersfield.

What next?

Arsenal are currently 4th in the league, as Unai Emery’s side steered into top four after win against Tottenham. The Gunners are currently on a 19-game unbeaten run and would aim to extend it tonight as they face a struggling Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Mourinho’s side is currently 8th in the Premier League, and is eight points behind Arsenal.
