Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich: German club confirm interest in Manchester City star

Bayern Munich’s representatives have confirmed their interest on Leroy Sane.

Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has claimed that Bayern Munich are working on a deal to bring Leroy Sane to Bavaria. Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben finished their Bayern career on a high with a Bundesliga title, paving way for a wide forward in the summer window.

Manchester City star Leroy Sane has been warming the bench for most parts of last season. The Manchester City forward has mustered out 14 goals and 12 assists despite featuring more games as a substitute. The German International intends to play more to develop his game further and a move to Bayern Munich could be on the cards.

Bayern Munich Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic was asked about the reports suggesting the German outfit are chasing the former Schalke forward and did not dismiss the possibility.

“I don’t comment on names,” he uttered when he was quizzed about Sane, but added that few more signings are expected this summer with Hoeness handing over 200 million transfer budget to Niko Kovac, according to the SportBild.

“We will try to do something for the new season, so we must also clarify how much money we have available for it,” he added.

But Hoeness confirmed that the reigning German Champions are looking at the possibility of completing a transfer this summer.

“We are dealing with this player,” Hoeness told Sueddeutsche Zeitung .

Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski has asked the club to acquire his signing because of the quality at stake.

“I’ve already seen many times how good he is,” he said . “That’s a player who can immediately take us higher, who improves the team.”

But City are not prepared to let him leave, as Pep Guardiola believes he is still a cardinal part of the team.

“We are one-and-a-half years trying to sign his [new] contract. We want him,”he told reporters recently .

“If you want to extend his contract, it’s because you want him. You’re not going to extend his contract because you don’t want him.”

He added: “He’s competing with Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva. It’s not easy. If you want to play in for competitions for the quadruple we need Leroy, Sterling, Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo, we can’t compete for the quadruple with just two wingers.”
