Lingard on Solskjaer

Lingard on Solskjaer: Manchester United cruised to a 5-1 victory against Cardiff City on Saturday night.

The life under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer went off to a good start for Manchester United, as the side registered an emphatic 5-1 victory over Cardiff City.

Manchester United scored five goals in a Premier League game for the first time since the Sir Alex Ferguson’s farewell game against West Bromwich Albion.

Jesse Lingard scored a brace in the second half after Marcus Rashford, Ander Herrera and Anthony Martial secured a 3-1 lead at halftime for the side.

With the win, Manchester United have now bridged the gap with top 4 to eight points after Chelsea conceded a shock defeat to Leicester City. The side will now take on Huddersfield in the Premier League on Boxing Day.

Meanwhile, Jesse Lingard talked about the sudden change in playing style under the new manager.

Lingard on Solskjaer:

Jesse Lingard scored two goals in the second half to ensure a 5-1 win on the night, and spoke to the media in the post-match interview. He stated that Solskjaer told them to play the ‘Manchester United’ way.

“[Solskjaer told us to] Just to be positive, take risks,” Lingard said.

“If you lose the ball, win it back. Play the United way, attacking football and entertaining football.”

The style of football was, quite clearly, in complete contrast to how Mourinho played his side at Manchester United.

Lingard also talked about Anthony Martial’s goal in the first half, which included a brilliant one-touch football from the Manchester United players.

“When you play close one-touch football, it’s enjoyable football.

“You saw Anthony’s goal, it was a great goal, great link-up play and we did that throughout the game.”

Solskjaer, meanwhile, was appreciative of his players, and stated that the side oozes quality.

“There’s quite a few (positives to take). The attitude and application of the boys. The attitude’s been fantastic. The way they approached this game throughout.

“hey’ve (the players) made me comfortable. Settling in quickly, the boys. You’re excited when you meet new people but of course, I know the club, I know the staff. I’ve had some great days now,” the manager said.
