Lionel Messi’s son has celebrated a Real Betis goal last night.
Mateo Messi, son of Lionel Messi, has grabbed the headlines over the past few months for celebrating the opponent goals. A similar scenario popped up when Barcelona invited Real Betis to Camp Nou on Sunday.
The Barcelona Skipper returned to training following an injury lay-off, but Ernesto Valverde was not prepared to take any risks. Hence, the Argentinian sat on the bench, alongside Luis Suarez, who is also out injured. Both watched from the stands with their kids.
Real Betis new signing Nabil Fekir opened the scoring in the 15th minute which saw the visitors taking a surprise lead in Nou Camp.
When the camera angles were turned towards that box, Lionel Messi’s son, Matteo Messi was spotted celebrating the opening goal of the game. It left Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi burst into laughter.

Barcelona’s new signing Antoine Griezmann grabbed a brace to lead the game in the 50th minute. The lead was extended by Carlos Perez, Jordi Alba, and Arturo Vidal in the second half. Real Betis’ Lorenzo Garcia bagged one before the final whistle, proving to be a consolation goal.
In the post match press conference, Ernesto Valverde was over the moon with the performance of Antoine Griezmann.
“I have to recognise that it was an important day for him due to the injuries we had. He reacted perfectly,”
“He dropped into the midfield to help and he made an impact. We know that if attacking players track back, we have a better chance of winning.
“It is essential that more players score goals. The fact that Griezmann scores gives him some security.” added Valverde.
