Lionel Messi once again showed the footballing world that he is the best when it comes to crunch situations for Barcelona, as the magician stepped up during stoppage time to score a wonderful freekick to trigger a Barcelona comeback.

Luis Suarez then romped home with the equaliser, thereby culminating one of the best La Liga games of the season, one that ended in a 4-4 draw.

Villarreal clawed back into the game after Malcolm and Coutinho had given Barcelona the lead. Having scored 4 goals in the 90 minutes, Villarreal fans would have been hoping for a freak win against the La Liga champions, but Lionel Messi and Suarez had different ideas.

Having scored a worldly ‘panenka freekick’ on the weekend, this time Messi smacked the ball into the back of the net, with pure power and precision.

The freekick was won at the edge of the penalty area, with Messi stepping up during the 90th minute. With the scoreline hanging by a threat at 4-3, it seemed like it was only a matter of time that Barcelona would bank home the equaliser, thanks to the kind of pressure the Barcelona forwards were applying on the Villarreal defense line.

With the last kick of the game, Luiz Suarez hit a thunderous left footed shot off a Lionel Messi corner to send Barcelona fans all across the world in a state of frenzy.

A cross aimed for the far post, fell onto Luis Suarez’s head after a mediocre clearance by the Villarreal defense. Suarez positioned himself brilliantly and thumped home the equaliser.

It was a game to remember for the Barcelona fans as their team scripted one of the greatest comebacks in La Liga history. They now take on Atletico Madrid on the weekend before travelling to Manchester for the highly anticipated Champions League clash at Old Trafford.
