Lionel Messi claims that he needed to take some time off
Sometimes even the best need to take a break, even if they think that they do not need one. The very best players in the world share one common characteristic – they hate not being able to play.
This is something that is shared by Lionel Messi as the Argentine is famously notorious when it comes to taking a rest. Messi has often argued with his coach on the sidelines when he was asked to be substituted.
But as he has grown older, Messi has realized the importance of taking care of his health with the magical number 10 even accepting that his recent break from football was a good thing for him.
“I have learned that the season is long, that there are times which are harder than others because the years fly by and now my body pays the price for playing in so many matches,” he told TyC Sports.
“I realised that sometimes not playing is for the best.”
Messi has been sensational for Barcelona this season as the Argentine genius has produced some of his best form in a Barcelona shirt.
While the shock of Neymar’s departure was being felt by many players in the team, Luis Suarez included, Messi has taken the baton and carried the team on his broad shoulders.
Messi has been one of the biggest reasons for Barcelona’s run atop the league table as his mesmeric displays have been a critical part of the Catalan team.
Messi recently signed a contract extension which came as a huge relief to Barcelona fans all over the world. There were genuine fears that the Argentine would leave the club at the end of season, but those have been allayed for now.
