Ronaldo-Higuain exchange

Ronaldo-Higuain exchange: The AC Milan forward missed the penalty before being sent off against his parent club, Juventus.

It was a night to forget for the Argentine forward as Higuain missed a penalty before being sent off in the closing stages of the game against Juventus. Gonzalo Higuain is currently playing on loan for AC Milan from the Turin-based side.

The Argentinian forward confronted the referee for his decision to punish him with a yellow card, which forced the official, Paolo Silvio Mazzoleni, to pull out a red card. The referee’s actions infuriated Higuain even further, and he erupted into a fit of rage.

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo decided to intervene and put his hand on Higuain’s shoulder, but instead of calming things down, it made the matter worse. Higuain charged at Ronaldo, and pushed him.

After the game, however, Cristiano Ronaldo cleared that it was not his intention to pick up a fight with the Argentine international, and he tried to calm things down.

Ronaldo-Higuain exchange:

In an interview with Sky Sport Italia, Cristiano Ronaldo was questioned about the incident. The Portuguese forward stated that he tried to calm Higuain after the incident.

“I told him to calm down, as he risked an even heavier ban,” Ronaldo said.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner insisted that Higuain was annoyed at the result of the game and the reaction was ‘understandable.’

“He didn’t do much, he was irritable at losing the game, that’s understandable and I hope he is not punished too severely.”

AC Milan’s manager, Gennaro Gattuso also admitted that Higuain needed to control himself in the situation.

“I do hope Pipita (Higuain) apologizes to the referee for his attitude,” Gattuso said to Sky Sport Italia. “He needs to control himself more. I saw how much pressure he felt on his shoulders, taking a penalty against his old club, anyone who has played football knows that emotions can get you in these situations.”

What next?

With this win, Juventus continue their unbeaten record in the Serie A this season. In 12 league games, Allegri’s side has dropped points in only one, while comfortable cruising past oppositions in 11 of them.
