Lionel Messi is seemingly at loggerheads with the Barcelona board, as the number ten wants academy graduate Carlos Alena to replace the outgoing Andres Iniesta.

The great Iniesta may be calling an end to his time at Barcelona, as the legendary midfielder is contemplating a move to China in the summer.

Iniesta was part of a victorious Barcelona side last night, as the Catalans progressed into the last eight of the competition.

Lionel Messi was at it again a few nights back, as he single handedly took Chelsea apart and booked Barcelona’s place in the quarter finals of the Champions League.

Two goals and a glorious assist saw Barcelona score three goals against an unlucky Chelsea side, as they went through 4-1 on aggregate.

Conte was disappointed, as he knew that his side did not have the run of the green on the night. Individual mistakes proved costly, as was Chelsea’s profligacy in front of goal.

This is what Messi had to say after the match,

“I’m happy to have reached 100 goals in such a beautiful competition,” he added.

Iniesta has had an incredible career, and will be remembered as one of the greatest midfielders of his generation. But age has caught up with him, as the champion player is looking to move on from Barcelona.

This is what Iniesta had to say after the match,

“Before April 30 I have to make the decision whether I’m still in Barcelona or I’m going to China. I have to assess what is best for me and for the club,” he said.

“It is a decision that I will communicate to the club first and then you will find out. I will make a decision before April 30.

“It will be the most honest for me and for the club.”

This is what Ernesto Valverde had to say when he heard about his great midfielder’s decision,

“It’s a very personal decision, he has to decide.

“I’m not thinking of a Barcelona without Andres Iniesta because right now we have a Barcelona with Andres Iniesta.”
