Lionel Messi is worried about Manchester City in the Champions League
As of now, Barcelona have pretty much wrapped up the league and cup for this season, as it will be a shock of monumental proportions for the Catalan side to lose both trophies from this position.
With a game in hand, Barcelona have opened up a six-point gap between themselves and second placed Atletico Madrid. Defending champions, Real Madrid, are 16 points behind Barcelona, effectively ending their chances at another league title.
Barcelona are also in the Copa del Ray final, as they will look to lift the trophy for the fourth consecutive time.
Not even the most optimistic Barcelona fan could have envisaged this scenario when Neymar departed for PSG in the summer. It was one of the most shocking transfers of all time, as the French side paid the release clause for Neymar and snatched him from Barcelona’s grasp.
The Catalans were shocked, as Neymar was their hero and the heir to Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp. But his departure suddenly left them with a fortune, and made them scramble around for a replacement.
But things look very different six months later, as Barcelona are in pole position to win at least two titles and have also added superb players in Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho and Yerry Mina to their squad.
The Catalans will now turn their eyes towards the Champions league, as Barcelona will look to win their fifth Champions league and become the first side in history to complete three trebles.
Lionel Messi is cautious about the Champions league though, as he is quite afraid of Pep Guardiola’s brilliant Manchester City side. PSG are also a team that Barcelona talisman is war of ahead of their huge tie against Real Madrid.
“Manchester City are one of the strongest teams around, as well as Paris Saint-Germain.
“I also do not exclude Real Madrid in terms of quality and experience, even though they have not yet achieved the expected results.
“Then there’s Bayern Munich, another great team who will play until the end. Today, however, the best are City and PSG.”
While it is true that PSG and Manchester City are looking very strong right now, Barcelona will always fancy their chances with Lionel Messi in their side.
