Liverpool players and Jurgen Klopp lauds Danny Ings as a hero after Premier League game

Liverpool players and Jurgen Klopp treats Danny Ings like a hero after Liverpool wins over Southampton in the 25th game-week match.

Last night Danny Ings came back to the Anfield to stop the ferocious form of his former side Liverpool in the Premier League. The English striker was not able to prevent the Reds from securing a win but he was surely treated as a hero over there.

For Liverpool, the biggest threat to their winning streak last night was surely Danny Ings, who is in the form of his life and has already scored 14 goals in this edition of the Premier League.

But Ings could not even harm Liverpool slightly and have to leave the Anfield without a goal. However, what was witnessed after the game, totally shows how Ings’ former team players and coach Klopp takes him in high regard.

After the full-time, Klopp and many squad members came to Ings and embraced him. The 27-year-old played with most of the players and worked with Klopp while he was playing for Liverpool.

“They have international quality throughout and they play to their maximum. This makes them a dangerous opponent. And of course, there is one player in their ranks we know better than most: Mr Danny Ings,” Klopp said.

“For 90-plus minutes today, he is our opponent, but other than that he is always our friend in Liverpool. I am not even half-a-per-cent surprised to see what he does this season. Richly deserved, also.

“I would never dream of telling Gareth Southgate what he should be considering, but given he is a top operator and clever coach, I’m sure he’s aware that Danny is someone who could help his country again in the near future.

“Today I hope he has an off day, but other than that his story this season really brings joy to those of us lucky enough to know him.”

With doubts over Harry Kane’s presence for the Euro 2020, Ings has been rumoured to be the replacement for the English captain to lead the attack.
