Liverpool Transfer News: Barcelona inquire about Van Dijk and Liverpool gave an immediate response

Liverpool Transfer News: Barcelona inquire about Virgil Van Dijk amidst ssummer transfer window and Liverpool quickly shut their approach.

Virgil van Dijk had a phenomenal season with Liverpool, as he has won the best player in the Premier league award and the Champions league title by performing at the highest level this season.

The Dutch International had one of his best performances of his lifetime against Barcelona in the second leg of the Champions league semi-final. His exceptional display surely impressed the Catalan giants.

With Pique slowly getting into the last phase of his career, Samuel Umtiti’s uncertain future with the Spanish club and Matthijs De Ligt snubbing the Blaugranas. Barcelona now wish to hire the 28-year-old player.

Thus, according to a report by John Cross of the Mirror and the Express, Barcelona made an inquiry about Virgil Van Dijk’s availability with Liverpool, but the Merseyside Club immediately shunned Barcelona’s attempt.

“Do not expect it to happen for a moment, but Barcelona made enquiries about whether Virgil van Dijk could be tempted to leave Liverpool,” he writes.

“They were quickly given short shrift by the Dutch defender’s representatives. They did not bother taking it further.”

This surely gave a relief to the Liverpool fans, as Van Dijk is a crucial part of the team squad, and have gained prominence after his sensational performances this season.

Moreover, Liverpool invested £75 million on Van Dijk, which made him the costliest defender in the world last summer. Hence, certainly making the Dutch International a “not for sale” asset for the English giants.

On the other hand, presently, Van Dijk is satisfied with his stay at Liverpool, and it seems unlikely that Barcelona would be able to achieve the services of the player in the near future.
