Liverpool Transfer News: Jurgen Klopp takes call on Nabil Fekir's transfer as Lyon president grants transfer wish

Jurgen Klopp is set to reignite interest on Nabil Fekir in the summer and could prise him away from Lyon.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed that Lyon Skipper Nabil Fekir can leave the Ligue 1 club in the summer.

Liverpool had a £52 million bid accepted by Lyon for Fekir before the World Cup in last summer, but the move fell through because of the purported knee risk. The 25-year-old was in a wretched state heading into the World Cup, but he vowed to carry on with a positive frame of mind with Lyon for the entire campaign.

The World Cup winner is contracted until 2020 and has refused to sign a new deal at Groupama Stadium. Following an underwhelming season with the Ligue 1 outfit this season, Lyon will be happy to get to grips with a deal around £30 million in the summer transfer window.

Nabil Fekir has 12 goals and 7 assists in 39 appearances this season, but he is capable of producing better figures. Aulas has confirmed that he will be allowed to speak with other clubs in the summer.

“Effectively, Nabil is outside [of the two departures expected], because we have an understanding that he can go,” Aulas said following Friday’s 3-2 win over Nimes.

“Thanks Nabil for bringing what he brought, we have an understanding to let him go.”

Discerning Lyon’s stance on Nabil Fekir in the summer, Jurgen Klopp is set to reignite his interest on the World Cup winner for the second season running, according to Goal. The Reds will try to prise him away for a suitable fee before the kick start of the next season.

Fekir will be allowed to leave his boyhood club after scoring 69 times in 192 appearances over the last five years. In the meantime, he has become the teams captain while earning 21 caps for France.

It will be a busy transfer window for Lyon. Tanguy Ndombele, Memphis Depay, Ferland Mendy, and Moussa Dembele have been linked with a move away from the club.

Even if the deals are finalized, any transfer deal is expected to announce only after Liverpool’s Champions League final set up with Tottenham Hotspur at Wanda Metropolitano on June 1.
