Liverpool Transfer News: Midfielder tells Klopp about his decision to leave the Reds to former club

Adam Lallana has made his decision to leave Liverpool for Southampton.

Liverpool are planning to sell some players in the summer transfer window to decrease the wage bill. It will help the club to lure in young players as Jurgen Klopp is a wonderful orchestrator for young players. The likes of Daniel Sturridge, Adam Lallana, Simon Mignolet, and Alberto Moreno are tipped to head into the exit door in this window.

The English publication Express reports that the attacking midfielder Adam Lallana has reportedly told Jurgen Klopp to sell him in the summer. The English International has been enduring an injury-plagued season, making just 16 appearances throughout the season. He has rarely been on the pitch last season as he made just one lesser than this season.

The 31-year-old is contracted until 2020 with the Reds, but Jurgen Klopp’s side are keen on recouping at least half the amount they paid to Southampton. Liverpool, who paid 25 million for his services from Southampton in 2015, are keen to recover 13 million in the summer window.

The report adds on that his former Southampton are determined to land him and are willing to pay the fee. But, Ralph Hussenhuttl is concerned about his injury track record over the last few years.

Adam Lallana was a Saints hero by helping them move from League one to the Premier League. He made 265 appearances during his eight-year stay with the club.

Southampton legend Francis Benali would love to see Lallana back at St Mary’s, but concedes fans might not be so open to a deal.

“It’s a difficult situation for him to get back in the [Liverpool] team,” Benali said. “It’s a scenario that many players would find difficult.

“But what would be the tough thing is would the supporters welcome players [like Lallana] back to the club?

“It’s a relationship between the two clubs that has certainly spiked the nerves of Southampton fans with a lot of our top players leaving for Liverpool.

“I just like to see good, talented and passionate players that want to play for Southampton – playing for my team. However that happens, I’m quite open to anything.” said Benali.
