Liverpool vs Man City head to head stats and records. Lets us take a look at the stats between the two top contenders to win the Premier League this season.
Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have left off from where they left in Germany. While Klopp continuously lost his top stars at Borussia Dortmund to Pep’s Bayern side, at Liverpool, he has had no such worries and has built a world class side that rivals any team in the world.

While both Manchester City and Liverpool claim that Manchester United are still their biggest rivals, they understand that this match could very well be the difference between who lifts the Premier League this season.
Current Champions City sit 6 points behind leaders Liverpool. However, City have arguably been the most consistent side in the world and are still a threat to Liverpool’s march for a maiden Premier League. Although, City have not beaten Liverpool at the Anfield under Guardiola.
Guardiola does have the cushion of avoiding defeat at the hands of Jurgen Klopp in their last 3 matches. The match at Anfield ended in a draw last season while City beat Liverpool in the return fixture before beating them once again in the Community Shield early in the summer.
Rivalry built on respect set to go down in flames
The managers have been fairly respectable of each other. However, Guardiola seemed to stroke fire with his comments on Sadio Mane last week.
‘Sometimes he is diving,’ Guardiola told BBC Sport. ‘Sometimes he has this talent to score incredible goals in the last minute. He’s a talent.’
Jurgen Klopp did not take kindly to the comments and responded with a backhanded remark on Guardiola’s tactics.
‘I couldn’t really believe it to be honest and then I saw it,’ the German said. ‘I am not sure if Pep spoke in that moment about Sadio or the team; both is not too nice to be honest.
‘I am not too sure if I want to put oil on the fire. I am not interested in these kinds of things. And I promise not to mention tactical fouls. That is maybe already too much.’
Guardiola has since backtracked on his comments. However, the stage has been set. The oil has been poured and all that’s left now is for the players to put fire on it.
