Lopetegui on sacking rumors: The Real Madrid manager has finally addressed questions regarding his job being at risk.
Real Madrid are struggling in the new season. The club is currently 7th in the league, with only 14 points from 9 games so far. Julen Lopetegui’s side suffered another defeat in their La Liga campaign last weekend, as they slumped to a 2-1 loss at home to Levante.
Julen Lopetegui’s side broke an unwanted record this season, as the club registered the longest goalless run Real Madrid had ever seen. The run, too, was finally broken by Marcelo’s goal in the game last weekend, but Lopetegui’s men couldn’t prevent the loss.
In the Champions League, Real Madrid lost their second group stage game to CSKA Moscow, and Keylor Navas, the Los Blancos’ goalkeeper, admitted that the side was missing Cristiano Ronaldo. Isco, however, in the press conference earlier today, insisted that Real Madrid has to move on.
Speculations have also begun on Lopetegui’s job at Real, with many Spanish outlets claiming that the manager could be sacked this week. Lopetegui has now finally responded to the rumors.
Lopetegui on sacking rumors:
Julen Lopetegui interacted with the media for the pre-match press conference for the game against Viktoria Plzen. The manager admitted that he couldn’t guarantee if he will be at the manager’s bench for the El Clasico this weekend.
“I can’t confirm any more than now. I am sat here. We are concentrated on the present and on what happens today,” Lopetegui said.
Isco’s words may seem harsh and I already see a lot of people saying Ronaldo didn’t wanna leave, Perez is to be blamed etc etc.
But what are the players supposed to say when media keeps asking about CR7 like a parrot? It’s only human to get irritated and answer like this. https://t.co/8YKUwkJfzF

On being asked if he has thought about his future at the club, Lopetegui insisted that his only focus is on the Champions League match.
“What I have done is analyse our rival in tomorrow’s game. I’m not looking beyond that stage. It’s what my position as coach obliges.
Isco: “The entire squad believes in Lopetegui, not just me. We’re together. I have full confidence in this team, we are winners, have shown that before. I hope tomorrow’s game will be a turning point and change the dynamic.” pic.twitter.com/H4xl6wskJk

“I’m not aware of what is being said. I’m focused on my players and on our rival. If that weren’t the case, I would be a coach and certainly not at Real Madrid. What I have learnt at this club is to fight,” said the Real Madrid manager.
Lopetegui also stated that his team would try its best to overcome the poor start to the campaign.
