Modric disagrees with Sergio Ramos: Real Madrid suffered a stunning defeat against Real Sociedad in La Liga last weekend.
After ending the year on a high with the Club World Cup, the Spanish side suffered another slump in form as they dropped points in two consecutive league fixtures.
Real Madrid were held to a draw against Villareal, and faced a stunning 2-0 defeat to Real Sociedad at Santiago Bernabeu.
As a result, Santiago Solari’s side has dropped to the fifth position in the league, and are ten points behind league leaders and arch-rivals Barcelona.
Sergio Ramos attacked the referee in the post-match interview, terming the officiating in the game ‘scandalous.’
“The referee played a big role in things. I’ve always defended the VAR system, but it has to be improved because what we’ve seen was scandalous,” Sergio Ramos said.
Luka Modric also reflected on the game. However, he had more to say than Ramos on the side’s performance.
Modric disagrees with Sergio Ramos:
The midfielder admitted that the referee was poor in the game, but insisted that the players need to step up.
“He (Munuera) has not had a good day,” began Modric.

“But our problem is not the referee or VAR, although they haven’t helped us.”Our problems are other things.”
The Real Madrid star stated that the players are not performing up to their ‘level,’ and insisted that the side needs to start the game with more confidence.
“Many of us are not at our level. We cannot take a sh** at the beginning of every game. We have to be clear, it’s not a matter of luck.

OK, lets settle this: Luka Modric has struggled this season. Is it down to him being tired after the World Cup and simply overworked, or down to opponents actually noticing how good he is and simply locking him down more often? I’m not sure.

However, despite their poor performance in the last two game, Real Madrid are only a point behind fourth-placed Deportivo Alaves, and five behind city rivals Atletico Madrid, who are second.
