Luke Shaw injury news: Luke Shaw is nearer to gain full fitness, and could be in contention for away trip to Watford this weekend.

Manchester United’s Luke Shaw has been one of the few standout players for the Red Devils in the 2018/19 Premier League campaign. The 23 year old has started all their fixtures in the English top flight and been impressive on an overall basis. It does look like he finally has won over Jose Mourinho after receiving severe criticism.

His top performances were not left hanging as Gareth Southgate immediately called him up to join the England squad in the first international break of the season. The Three Lions were due to face Spain in the UEFA Nations League and Switzerland in an international friendly.

Things in the England shirt got underway for Shaw in a good fashion as he assisted the team’s opening goal against Spain with a beautifully worked pass to Marcus Rashford. However, slightly over 45 minutes into his debut on international level, Shaw had to be taken off due to a head injury.

A collision with Spain and Real Madrid right back Dani Carvajal knocked him to the ground and unconscious. Subsequently, Luke Shaw had to be rushed out on a stretcher as he looked to have suffered a nasty injury. Thankfully, the former Southampton full back has been doing okay since the accident.

Reports have now emerged claiming that the English defender could be in contention for Manchester United’s visit to Watford at the Vicarage Road. The Hornets have a 100% record and come into the fixture on the back of a scalp of Spurs by a 2-1 margin. Javi Gracia’s men have been superb this season and would be hoping to get the better of the Red Devils.

Meanwhile, their opponents have been much below par this season and won just two out of four matches, suffering defeats in the other two. Ahead of the international break, United dispatched Burnley to put an end to a streak of two successive losses against Brighton and Tottenham.
