Manchester United's expected lineup vs Watford

TheSportsRush brings Manchester United’s expected lineup vs Watford, as Mourinho’s men aim to stop high-flying Javi Garcia’s side.

Jose Mourinho’s men endured a poor start to their 2018/19 season. Manchester United have dropped six points from their first four games of the Premier League. On their third game-week, they suffered a crushing 3-0 loss against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.

However, Mourinho’s side has shown signs of improvement with a more attacking approach in their last two games. Their defence did let them down against Tottenham, but the team made a strong comeback at Burnley, where they kept a clean-sheet in a 2-0 win.

United will meet Javi Garcia’s Watford, who are seemingly in a dreamland at the moment. They are yet to drop a point this season, winning all four of their games. Watford defeated an underwhelming Tottenham side 2-1 at home in the fourth game-week.

Their two forwards, captain Troy Deeney and Andre Gray make consistent penetrative runs which physically tires the opponents, making it easy for Watford to attack an exhausting defence.

As United take on their the high-flying Tottenham, theSportsRush brings Jose Mourinho’s expected lineup at Vicarage Road.

Goalkeeper: David De Gea

It goes without question. De Gea has been solid for United so far, and until an injury happens, he will start in front of the goal.

Defence: Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Young

Manchester United’s player of the month in August, Luke Shaw, faced a head-injury during England’s match against Spain in the international break. While the extent of the injury is not yet made public, Shaw was stretchered off the pitch, and looks likely to miss the match against Watford. Ashley Young, who featured at the left-back position in most of the last season, is expected to fill-up for the English youngster.

Midfield: Matic, Fred, Pogba

Marouane Fellaini played a terrific role in negating ariel threats from Burnley in United’s last match before the international break. However, Javi Garcia is not excessively reliant on long-balls for attack, which could see Fellaini being utilised from the bench. Fred is likely to replace Fellaini in the middle.

Offence: Lingard, Lukaku, Alexis

The front-three is expected to remain the same as in the last match. Jesse Lingard has been impressive for United this season, and Lukaku also looks to be back among the goals with a brace against Burnley. Sanchez struggled in the beginning of the season but showed signs of improvement at Turf Moor.
