Man United News: Former PSG man nears to take transfer responsibilities at Manchester United

Man United News: Former PSG man Antero Henrique nears to make a move to Manchester United as the Sporting Director leaves PSG.

There have been many talks about Manchester United recruiting its first Sporting Director to make the transfer activities fluent at the club, and absence of a person in this direction is certainly holding the club back.

According to a report by the Footmercato, Manchester United has zeroed down to former PSG Sporting Director Antero Henrique for the role at the club and both parties are near to reach an agreement.

Henrique has already agreed on a deal to move away from the French giants. It’s also suggested that he was wanted by Inter Milan and a team in China, while he’s best known for climbing through the ranks at Porto during some of their most successful years.

So far, it is still unknown about what all duties and responsibilities the Sporting Director will have at Manchester United, but he would at least be in charge of transfers and recruitment, which would take the responsibility away from chairman Ed Woodward.

Woodward has been criticized for his footballing business at the club and his non-footballing knowledge has allegedly ended up in ‘bad’ transfers for the club.

However, the entire blame should not go on Woodward for the poor trade done by the club in all these years, even four managers before Ole Solskjaer have been equally involved in poor transfers recorded by the club.

Meanwhile, recruitment of a sporting director doesn’t guarantee success, as the final say over a player will still be with Solskjaer and Woodward. But surely the appointment can induce a system, Liverpool’s Michael Edwards is the most shining example of it.

Liverpool’s transfers in the last 4 years have been exceptional and have turned out to be much better than they were expected by the fans.
