Man United Transfer News: Manchester United in talks with Barcelona to sign French superstar Samuel Umtiti ahead of next season.
Manchester United need immediate reinforcements in the defense, after the Red Devils faced several disappointing results from the resources at the back.
Thus, Ole Solskjaer is looking quality replacements in the squad. However, Manchester United are losing their prime targets this summer, with very less to offer.
Thus, according to a report by the Daily Mail, Manchester United are now negotiating with Barcelona over the transfer of Umtiti this summer, as the Barcelona defender has lost his place in the starting lineup.
The World Cup winning player remained on the Camp Nou dugout for the most part of the season, after he suffered a major knee injury which gave him several fitness issues.
Thus, Umtiti was replace by his compatriot Clement Lenglet, who gave phenomenal performances for the Catalan giants last season. Hence, the French International suffered to make a comeback in the starting lineup even when he was fit.
Therefore, Manchester United see it as an appropriate opportunity to capture Umtiti from Barcelona, since he will surely upgrade the Red Devils’ defense line.
Even though, Manchester United does not have any competition in the pursuit of Umtiti, Barcelona and Umtiti are still reluctant to part away.
The Catalan club would have given the French International, but with De Ligt snubbing the Spanish champions, they might not sacrifice their defensive depth now. Hence, the English giants have to propose a significant deal to lure both the parties.
It is remained to see whether Manchester United will be able to obtain anything from these talks, as slowly, all the options in Solskjaer’s hands are fading away.
