Ander Herrera has reportedly taken a final decision on his future at Man Utd amid speculations that he might move to PSG.
Manchester United‘s delay in extending player contracts have landed them in another tough situation. This time, the concerned player is Ander Herrera.
The player’s contract expires at the end of the season. However, Manchester United are yet to trigger a one-year extension for Herrera.
It has been reported earlier this week that PSG is preparing a big offer for the Spaniard, with a long-term deal as well. However, Ander Herrera is claimed to have taken a final decision on his future.
Ander Herrera to stay?
According to Manchester Evening News, the Spanish midfielder could put pen to paper on a one-year extension.
Herrera, who turns 30 this year, was reported to be impressed with PSG’s offer, but MEN’s Liam Corless wrote earlier today that the reports were false and that the midfielder wants to stay at the club.
Under Jose Mourinho, Ander Herrera had been largely reduced to the bench, but the player stepped up when given a chance by the interim manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He was rewarded with the club’s Player of the Month for February for his impressive performances under the Norwegian.
Solskjaer reinstated him to the midfield line-up, which also includes Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.
Manchester United’s hierarchy and Ed Woodward, in particular, is facing significant criticism for leaving the player contracts so close to their expirations.
If successful, Paris Saint Germain could acquire the services for Ander Herrera on a free deal if Manchester United fail to agree to a new contract with the midfielder.
Ander Herrera, in an interview with FourFourTwo earlier this season, insisted that a new contract wasn’t his priority.
“It’s not my business and I respect the decisions of the people that work for the club,” the Spaniard said.
“All I can say is that if I was sporting director of a club tomorrow, I would sign Ole. But I respect the people that take the decisions and I’m not going to say what they should do.”

Congratulations to Man Utd, who have allowed Ander Herrera to get close to signing for PSG for free but have given Phil Jones a new four-year contract well in advance.

The questions are: #MUFC
1. Why has Herrera’s contractual situation got to this stage?
2. What’s happening with De Gea?
3. Does the club think McT/Fred can do the job in Herrera’s absence?
4. Are we going to see the same farce as last summer?
5. Will OGS rock the boat enough?— Tom McDermott (@MrTomMcDermott) March 22, 2019

The Ander Herrera contract saga sums up Manchester United football club. We are giving contracts to players who wouldn’t start in most Premier League teams and our most important players haven’t even been offered new contracts. Shambles.
