Milan Skriniar to Man City

Manchester City are likely to beat Manchester United to the signing of Milan Skriniar.

Manchester City are preparing a huge bid to outmuscle Manchester United for the signature of Milan Skriniar. Jose Mourinho was insistent about the prospect of landing a center-back last summer, but the board decided against his will to play the current players who are available at disposal.

Although the 24-year-old signed a new contract at San Siro, the Citizens are said to be keen on smashing the transfer record for the signing of the Slovakian defender. The Italian outlet Calciomercato say that Pep Guardiola is willing to break the defensive transfer record by matching Inter Milan’s demands who value their defender at 100 million euros.

Vincent Kompany has been injury prone, whilst Nicolas Otamendi has fallen down the pecking order by staying as the fourth choice in the current crop. The former agreed a one-year deal with the club and the Citizens will be willing to ship off the Argentine in order to not reduce the squad depth.

Skriniar’s agent, Mital Halis, claimed earlier this week that City saw a bid for his client rejected by Inter last summer.

“Inter Milan paid Sampdoria €28m (£24m) for Skriniar and six months later, Manchester City came in with an offer of €55m (£46m),” he told AS.

Now he is valued at around €100m (£87m). Any deal would certainly be complicated by the interference of intermediaries.”

The Red Devils will be fuming to miss out on their top transfer target if Skriniar decides to join the Red Devils arch-rivals after the conclusion of this season. Should this transfer go through, that will narrow down their list to Kostas Manolas and Kalidou Koulibaly for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Other than these two, the English outfit are aiming to secure the signatures of a right-winger and midfielder who will be capable of making the transitions quicker to make things happen for the team. The likes of Jadon Sancho, Douglas Costa, and Federico Bernadeschi have been linked with a potential move to the club in the summer transfer window.

English International Jadon Sancho has been turning the head of several scouts as he continues to thrive at Signal Iduna Park under the management of Lucien Favre. Douglas Costa is currently the fourth choice in the flanks after Bernadeschi, Mandzukic, and Paulo Dybala. The Brazilian will be open for a move abroad in order to reinstate his place in the national side.

Federico Bernadeschi has been one of the best performers for the Old Lady this campaign and a move for him looks unlikely at this point of time. There has been no midfielder linked with the club, but the expiry of Ander Herrera’s contract at Old Trafford will force the club’s hands.

Various reports quoted that Solskjaer has demanded Ed Woodward to sell the trio of Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo, and Alexis Sanchez in the summer transfer window as the club plan for an overhaul in the next few months in order to challenge for the Premier League title.
