Vincent Kompany: Manchester City captain decides to leave Manchester City

Vincent Kompany: Manchester City captain decides to leave Manchester City as the club captain bids farewell t the club after FA Cup triumph.

Last night Manchester City thrashed Watford by 6-0 in the finale of the FA Cup 2019. The domestic cup triumph makes the Citizens the first side to win the historic English treble.

On the other side, Vincent Kompany was playing his last match for Manchester City as he has announced his departure after giving 11 years of his career to the club.

Kompany’s contract with Manchester City is about to expire in a month, hence the player opted to leave Manchester rather than signing a renewal, which will make him a free agent this summer.

The Belgian International penned down an emotional message to the fans on social media while announcing his decision officially.

The 33-year-old has been crucial for the success of the club as under his leadership Manchester City have won four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and two Community Shields.

Moreover, he has scored 20 goals in 360 games he played for Manchester, last one being a stunner, which thwarted Liverpool’s dream to win the league.

On the other hand, Manchester City have also confirmed his departure and club owner paid a tribute to his contributions in team’s success.

“There have been many important contributors to Manchester City’s renaissance, but arguably none are more important than Vincent Kompany.

“He defines the essence of the club. For a decade he has been the lifeblood, the soul, and beating heart of a supremely talented squad. A booming voice in the dressing room yet a quiet and measured ambassador off it, Vincent can be as proud of himself as we are of him.

“I am not sure he expected to lift the Premier League trophy on four occasions during his captaincy but he will be remembered and revered whenever this period of unprecedented City success is spoken about by future generations.

“His leadership, intelligence and determination have seen him adapt brilliantly to playing under four different managers and overcome some debilitating injuries. He is a special character who has answered every demand the club has made of him.

“We now look forward to celebrating his testimonial match in September so that we can properly celebrate his City contribution. He will always be part of the City family.”

Whereas, Kompany’s next destination is yet to be known as the player has not revealed about his future.
