Man Utd Transfer News: Manchester United set to defeat domestic rivals Arsenal over the pursuit of Thomas Meunier from PSG.
Manchester United need defensive reinforcements at the club ahead of the next season, as an underwhelming campaign in the previous Premier league season has compelled Ole Solskjaer to look for suitable candidates to bolster the squad.
The Red Devils are specifically prioritizing the right-side of defense, since last season the club manager had to place Ashley Young in that role. Thus, it weakened the right-flank of Manchester United.
Hence, Manchester United were reportedly going after Thomas Meunier as the Belgian International is losing favours from PSG manager Thomas Tuchel.
However, in recent events, Arsenal have also shown interest in Meunier. Arsenal manager, Unai Emery has already worked with the 27-year-old player, and still has faith in his capabilities.
On the other hand, things are not in the favour of Arsenal, according to a report by Belgian outlet DH.be. states that Thomas Meunier is close to join Manchester United on a reported fee of £22 million asked by PSG.
Thomas Meunier has been a productive player as he has shown his involvement by amassing 20 assists and 12 goals in 101 appearances across all seasons with Les Parisiens.
It is further reported that Manchester United want to swiftly wrap the deal after Meunier made it clear he was ready to snub Arsenal’s advances in favour of moving to Old Trafford as he’s a boyhood Manchester United fan.
Thus, it seems that the Red Devils will soon make their new signing public, if all the negotiations are going in accordance to the reports being published.
