Manchester United are viewing Tottenham Hotspur star as a part of the rebuilding process at Old Trafford.
Manchester United are facing an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League next season. The Red Devils are currently sixth in the league table, but they will need to depend on other results even if they win the rest of their games this campaign.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been talking about the necessity to bring in fresh faces in the summer transfer window. By luring in new players, they are hoping to at least challenge for the title next season as Manchester City and Liverpool seem to be miles ahead of everybody else.
As a part of the rebuilding process, the Red Devils are plotting a move for the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to the English publication Evening Standard. There are many rumours circulating about Paul Pogba’s uncertain future at the club which could coax him to move to Real Madrid in the summer window.
Christian Eriksen’s contract ends in 2020 and Spurs are hoping to tie him down to a new contract before it’s too long. With the new stadium and dues in stake, it will be tough for the club to lose him for nothing when his contract expires after next season. The club are prepared to offer him a contract worth 250,000 per week, but he has turned as offer down by maintaining the stance to move on from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs would demand more than 60 million for Christian Eriksen, but Mauricio Pochettino will have to see off the interest from Real Madrid to land him. Levy is a hard negotiator and he would prefer selling him to Real Madrid if he does not intend to extend his contract this summer.
Even though Eriksen is unlikely to make a decision until the end of the season, Mauricio Pochettino is hopeful that the midfielder would stay put at the club despite ongoing links with Manchester United and Real Madrid.
“I think Christian and us, we are so open to talk and we will see what happens.” said Pochettino.
Left-back Danny Rose has called on Levy to do every possible to keep Eriksen, saying: “It’s vital [that he re-signs]. He links everything up for us. The lads in the changing room trust the people upstairs to hopefully get him to sign.”
