Manchester City Are Interested In Investing In The Indian Super League
Premier league giants, Manchester City are extremely keen on investing in an ISL club, according to reports. City have been actively trying to increase their popularity, as they look to truly establish themselves as a major player in world football.
They already have stakes in the MLS and the Australian league, and are now looking to add India to their list. The Indian Super League is slowly growing in terms of its popularity and the football world is certainly taking notice of it.
The influx of former greats such as Diego Forlan, Del Piero, Pires etc has obviously created a buzz in the football world. But now Manchester City are trying to buy stakes in a major football city and hoping to turn it into the flagship team of the ISL.

Atletico de Kolkata and Mumbai City FC are two of the main cities that Manchester City are targeting. ATK have already had success in the ISL which would go well with the Abu Dhabi based owners of Manchester City. But it looks like Mumbai are the preferred choice for the owners.
“City wants to buy in India, that is for sure. There are talks ongoing with them (ATK), but Mumbai was/is the preferred option because of it being a mega city,” said the person who is close to the situation on the condition of anonymity.
“These things tend to take months to occur. City have been negotiating in China for two years with no breakthrough,” added our source.
“They had turned a favourable eye towards FC Goa in 2014 when the ISL initially took off. But nothing really came from that. So it’s a long way ahead,” quipped our source.
