Less than 72 hours ago, Real Madrid lost their best player and talisman Cristiano Ronaldo to Italian giants Juventus. The Bianconeri paid €112 million to grab the services of the Portugal international.

The Whites might be in for another heartbreak after reports of Gareth Bale having advanced talks with Manchester United, as news emerges from the north of England. The Cardiff Express did not start a great deal of games under Zinedine Zidane and was puzzled about his stay in the Spanish capital.

However, Julen Lorpetegui’s appointment following Zidane’s sudden departure has sparked hope for Bale. Despite being a substitute making appearances later on games, Gareth would chip in with vital goals. Bale’s latest heroics were in a match that turned out to be Zizou’s and Ronaldo’s last- the UEFA Champions League Final 2018- in Kiev where he came off the bench to score twice.

Real Madrid’s record signing publicly spoke about his desire to play more minutes at his press conference upon the match’s final whistle. The 28 year old might well end up staying at the Bernabeu after Julen Lorpetegui taking over at the helm.

However, if the rumour mill is anything that is to go by, Manchester United will make an offer for the Welsh. Jose Mourinho is an admirer of the Wales international and Ed Woodward has always wanted to sign Bale since he took over at Manchester United as the executive vice chairman in 2013.

The Old Trafford club is keen on strengthening its right flank and has also shortlisted Willian from Chelsea.

Despite making approaches for Bale, Florentino Perez will be keen to keep his €100 million man at Madrid. Bale’s statistics provide for fantastic reading for the 2017/18 campaign. He has made 39 appearances playing just over 2300 minutes but scored 21 times and assisted 7 more. While the Red Devils will be circling over Bale and his management, Real Madrid will do all they can to make him stay.
