Manchester United star donates huge amount to Coronavirus battle

Manchester United star makes a huge donation in his homeland to help in the fight against the Coronavirus, preferred being anonymous earlier.

The spread of the Coronavirus has now engulfed Spain, as the number of victims is rising sharply over there. The number of COVID-19 cases has even overtaken China and the number of casualties are being recorded every day.

Thus, David De Gea from Manchester United has made a significant contribution to Spain’s fight against the Coronavirus. It is said to have made the donation anonymously to the local authority in the Spanish capital, Madrid.

However, the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, made it public knowledge, writing on Twitter: “Thank you De Gea. The great help you have provided to the Community of Madrid will be key to fighting COVID-19. Eternally grateful, proud of you.”

Spain has been one of the worst affected countries by the pandemic, its death toll of almost 3,500 second only to Italy and higher than China, where the outbreak began.

Madrid, where De Gea was born and came through the youth ranks at Atletico before joining United in 2011, has been the worst-hit region. Even Real Madrid has launched their efforts in the battle.

Meanwhile, De Gea’s club Manchester United hasn’t also sat back and collaborated with local rivals Manchester City to make a £100,000 donation to help fight the virus.

While other Manchester United players like Marcus Rashford is leading a campaign to ensure all school children are fed while schools are shut down in the UK.
