Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Most Manchester United fans are filled with optimism ahead of the new season. The new signings, the managers’s track record in his second season and the possibility of seeing the likes of Pogba and Rashford explode in a United shirt are what fans are waiting to see this year.

Their loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup had quite a few positives for Mourinho and his men. Don’t forget, Real Madrid are the best side in world football today. And while they did dominate United for majority of the match, the English side did trouble them in the latter part of the second half.

Lukaku’s goal, after he missed a guilt edged chance, would have been a big relief to the Belgian striker. Pogba’s indifferent performance would have been a worry though, as United’s most expensive signing failed to excel against the best midfield in Europe.

But news is coming in that United may sign a former striker this summer.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s first season was a smash hit at Old Trafford. He defied his age and scored a bucket full of goals, as the Swede inspired United on more than one occasion last season.

And now it looks like he may return for one more season. Ibrahimovic suffered a knee injury that ruled him out of the final few weeks of the season. The injury was so serious that some people thought that it might even bring a sad end to what has been a glorious career.

But Zlatan was not to be deterred, as his rehabilitation has gone according to plan. After United let him go at the end of last season, Zlatan has continued to recover at Carrington, as he looks to make a shocking return to the club.

If all goes well, United might have a front two of Lukaku and Ibrahimovic next season.

Beware England! The King is coming back!
