Barcelona’s goalkeeper Marc Andre ter-Stegen punches Sergio Ramos on the face during the closing stages of the game.
Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 1-0 in the heavyweight league clash at Santiago Bernabeu last night.
Ivan Rakitic scored the sole goal in the game and performed brilliantly throughout the game as Barca registered their second victory over their arch-rivals within a week. Earlier, a brace from Luis Suarez secured Barca’s 3-0 victory at Santiago Bernabeu in the second leg of the Copa del Rey.
With the win last night, Barcelona leads in the overall record for the wins against Real Madrid for the first time in 87 years between the two sides.
Real are yet to beat Barcelona this season, having lost three of their four games against the arch-rivals. Barca defeated Real 5-1 in the first league El Clasico of the season at Camp Nou.

Things got REAL testy at the Santiago Bernabeu after Barcelona’s 1-0 win vs. Real Madrid, with some frustrated Real Madrid supporters tussling with some Barca supporters after the match (Just glad my phone battery had some juice left to catch this) #ElClasico : pic.twitter.com/J59alC0v6N

Moreover, Barcelona are unbeaten in their last five El Clasico games at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Things went rather nasty during the game, though. In the closing seconds of the first half, a fight ensued between Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos when the latter pushed Messi on his face. As a result, blood dripped out of Messi’s tooth but no action was taken by the referee.
However, Barcelona’s goalkeeper Sergio Ramos gave the Real Madrid captain a taste of his own medicine as he tried to punch the ball from a set-piece.
He punched Ramos’ face instead, as the defender fell down covering his face.
Real Madrid are now a massive 12 points behind Barcelona, making it almost impossible for them to make a comeback in the title race. Ernesto Valverde’s side is 10 points ahead of Atletico Madrid with the win and look on course to secure their second consecutive La Liga title.
Barcelona will also aim for a domestic double as they take on Valencia in the final of the Copa del Rey.
For Real, things get more complicated as Sergio Ramos is suspended for the second leg of the round-of-16 clash of the Champions League against Ajax. Real Madrid are leading the tie, but only just. The side won 2-1 at the Amsterdam Arena but the host side was a far better team in the game.

Sergio Ramos is suspended for the next two games in the Champions League, which means he will also miss the first leg of the quarterfinal tie, given Real Madrid qualifies for the next round.
He was charged for accepting to deliberately receiving a yellow card in the closing stages of the game against Ajax.
‘Don’t bring up Ronaldo after every loss’
Yes, I should, yes, we should. I miss Cristiano, Real Madrid misses Cristiano. Instead of going to find his ‘replacement’ we went and disrespected him by giving the 7 to Mariano. Someone in our club believed in Bale, and let Ronaldo go. pic.twitter.com/1J33xf21jb

Pique: “Real Madrid talk too much and sometimes they’re helped, what Sergio Ramos did was red. Messi was bleeding. My friend Mateu Lahoz didn’t see it in the VAR room either.”

Real Madrid play the Dutch side on Tuesday. The Champions League increasingly looks to be the only possible chance of a silverware in this season for the defending European champions.
