Zinedine Zidane’s return to the Bernabeu saw Marcelo walk into the first team once again. However, the £47million signing of French left-back Ferland Mendy has made him worry about his place in the starting eleven.

He intends to sign a long-term deal at a new club, one where he would possibly end his career in Europe. His people are in talks with Florentino Perez to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Marcelo prowess may have declined, but the Brazilian still remains a big name in the game. Bagging a player like him could be very beneficial to Arsenal who need to desperately strengthen their defense. Apart from Marcelo, the Gunners are also linked with Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney and have extended Nacho Monreal’s contract for at least another year.

Marcelo joined Real Madrid from Fluminense when he was 19 for just £5million. He developed into a fearsome left back in his 13 years in the Spanish capital. Marcelo helped Real Madrid to four La Liga titles and four Champions League wins. Marcelo is currently on holiday having been axed from Brazil’s Copa America squad in favour of Alex Sandro and Filipe Luis.
