Marcus Rashford to sign new contract

Marcus Rashford is set to sign a new contract with Manchester United.

Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over Manchester United in mid-December, it has been a fantastic run for the Red Devils, winning 9 out of their last 10 games to close down the gap to the Champions League place to just two points.

When the Norwegian took over the club, the Manchester outfit were eleven points behind the fourth-placed Chelsea. Their significant victories in this run including the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have reinstalled an abundance of confidence among the players and the supporters.

During this fabulous streak of results, the front line including Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, and Paul Pogba have been totally rejuvenated. They have been scoring goals for fun since the departure of the former manager Jose Mourinho.

Apart from on-field duties, the Red Devils are keen to get their job done in the off-field duties. The 20-time Premier League Champions were able to convince the French International Anthony Martial, who put pen to paper until 2024. There are many players who are next in the line, one among them is their academy graduate Marcus Rashford.

The 21-year-old has been in sparkling form, scoring six times from 10 games under the new manager. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also set to prioritize the English International over their number 9 Romelu Lukaku who has struggled to find his feet this season.

According to various reports, it is understood that Marcus Rashford is ready to commit his future on a long term basis to Manchester United only if his contract offer is doubled. The Red Devils striker is currently earning 75,000 per week. There is no doubt that the board will be keen to secure his extension as they see him as an integral part of their future.

Despite his contract ending in 2020 and the club has an option to trigger the one-year extension, the Red Devils are not ready to take any risk to fend off interest from Real Madrid who are reportedly watching the situation of Rashford.

Florentino Perez is reportedly keen on securing the signature of the English International, but it will not be easy for them unless they offer a ridiculous offer which would turn the head of Rashford.

On the other hand, David De Gea is another player willing to commit his future, but he wants to be the record earner alongside Alexis Sanchez at Old Trafford. The club have also offered new deals for Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, and Ashley Young.
