Mason Greenwood goal vs Aston Villa Man Utd protégé belts a stunner to double lead

Manchester United lead by 2 goals at half time after Mason Greenwood drills a goal past Pepe Reina with an extraordinary finish vs Aston Villa.

Manchester United continue their brilliant form as they look to book a place in next year’s Champions league. A 2-0 lead at half time places them in a comfortable spot to accumulate yet another 3 points in their quest for a top 4 finish.

While Bruno Fernandes drew first blood from the spot, young Mason Greenwood did his reputation no harm with a classy finish just before half-time.

Fernandes set Greenwood down the right and squared the ball to Anthony Martial. Greenwood stayed where he was and received a return pass from Martial in a bit of a space 22 yards from goal. He picked up the ball on the right-hand side of the area, and slammed a shot with his ‘weaker’ right foot to bring up his 9th goal in the Premier League the season.

No player has scored more PL goals from outside the box this season than Mason Greenwood (4).

This moment of brilliance from the youngster may have very well put the game beyond Aston Villa.

At the time of writing, United are still 2-0 up with 40 more minutes to play. The Red Devils are yet to lose a match since the resumption of the Premier League. They are currently 5th in the table and a win here will reduce the difference between them and 4th place Leicester City to just 1.

United currently have 55 points to Leicester City’s 59 points. 3rd place Chelsea, who have 60 points, will not feel too comfortable having two teams breathing down their necks.
