Man Utd team news vs Cardiff City: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update on United’s team for Cardiff City game.

Manchester United will enter the field for the first time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Saturday, where they take on his former club Cardiff City.

Solskjaer was appointed earlier this week to replace Jose Mourinho, who left the club two days after a 3-1 loss to Liverpool.

The Norwegian has previously worked with the club’s youth team, where he worked with current first-team players like Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard. He returned to Premier League after his first managerial spell with Molde, as he took over the role at Cardiff City, but was unsuccessful.

As Solskjaer prepares to make his Manchester United debut against his former side, he interacted with media for the pre-match conference. He talked about his playing style and expectations for the season, and also gave an update on the team.

The manager provided an update over the team news for the game against Cardiff City.

He stated that Romelu Lukaku has been absent, but stated that Alexis Sanchez is undergoing recovery and will join the squad soon.

“Romelu has had a couple of days off, so I’ve not seen him yet,” Solskjaer said. “That was decided before [I arrived], so that’s fine. I’ve not seen Alexis, because he’s on his way back as well.”

The official website has not provided a detailed list of injury for the game against Cardiff City, but hinted that Manchester United will have the same set of players available for the game as they had against Liverpool last weekend.

Luke Shaw and Phil Jones have been absent, while Chris Smalling pulled out five minutes before kick-off against Liverpool.

Romelu Lukaku has been given compassionate leave, while Alexis Sanchez remains unavailable.

“We need results but, then again, every player needs to know that they’re probably going to get their chance in this period, because that’s just the nature of the game over here in England, that we have to rotate,” Solskjaer said.

“The job now is to get to know the players, observe them, see the qualities that we’ve got,” he added.
