Matthijs De Ligt: The star defender has arrived in Turin to finalise his move to Juventus

Matthijs De Ligt: The star defender has arrived in Turin to finalise his move to Juventus after a long summer transfer saga that saw top European clubs compete for the young Dutchman.

At long last, the Matthijs De Ligt transfer saga seems to have finally ended. The former Ajax star was sought after by top European clubs such as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, both of the Manchester big wigs and PSG. However, it is Juventus who have finally managed to land the promising youngster.

De Ligt will earn a massive €7.5m a year plus bonuses during his stay with the Bianconeri. His release clause is set at €150m and will become active in his third year at Turin i.e. 2021.

With Juventus already having added Aaron Ramsey, Adrien Rabiot, Gianluigi Buffon, Cristian Romero, Luca Pellegrini and Merah Demiral to their squad this summer, De Ligt is just overkill. They look like a side ready to conquer Europe this season.

De Ligt is an out and out Ajax product having joined the club at the age of 9. He became the club’s youngest captain when they handed him the reigns on March 2018.

He led Ajax to the domestic league and cup and also guided them to the semi-finals of the Champions league where they lost to Tottenham by the narrowest of margins.
