Mesut Ozil decides his Arsenal future

Mesut Ozil is determined to stay at Arsenal despite a rift with Unai Emery.

Arsenal have been producing inconsistent displays and results over the last few weeks. The Gunners, who went on a 22-game unbeaten streak have struggled to find their feet ever since then with injuries playing a huge part in it.

During that good spell for the London outfit, Mesut Ozil was one of the integral men for Unai Emery. But, the German created a bad impression by injuring his back by playing a famous video game ‘Fortnite’ which calculates between five to six hours daily.

Upon this conundrum, he was forced to sit out for two weeks and missed three games during that period. Following his arrival back to the team, Arsenal have nothing been short of shambolic, losing their first game in three months to Southampton in the Premier League.

He was the captain when Arsenal came away as victors over Burnley at the Emirates on December 22. Since that day, he is yet to start a game under the Spaniard who has made his intentions clear about Ozil.

Whenever he was dropped, Emery says that it is down to his tactical decision. But, one day the Gunners boss said that he would pick the players who deserve to be in the starting lineup.

On the other hand, the record earner at Arsenal has played down any transfer suggestions during the January transfer window and decided to stay at London. Unai Emery tried his best to offload him and offered the German to Inter Milan, but the offer was turned down because they were not ready to pay the hefty wages.

An offer from Paris Saint-Germain arrived during the transfer deadline day, but he has opted to stay put by rejecting the reigning French Champions.

According to the Metro, Ozil has refused to leave despite many Chinese clubs circling him currently. It is no doubt that Arsenal will be trying to sell him in the forthcoming summer, but the high wages could come back to haunt them.

The Arsenal midfielder posted a cryptic message on Instagram reading

‘When you start supporting a football club, you don’t support it because of the trophies, or a player, or history, you support it because you found yourself somewhere there; found a place where you belong,’

Ozil has Arsenal fans at his back, but it remains to be seen if Unai Emery picks him for the upcoming games after deciding to leave him out of the squad against BATE in the Europa League.
