Mesut Ozil transfer news: Mesut Ozil has been largely out of the first-team action since December last year.
Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League table. However, the side has had a shaky few weeks, and their latest defeat to West Ham United has put a huge pressure on Unai Emery to preserve their position on the table.
Manchester United are level on points with Arsenal, but stay at sixth due to goal difference after their 1-0 win over Tottenham last night.
Mesut Ozil’s absence in Arsenal’s games has been a big concern for the Arsenal fans. The midfielder was left out of the squad against West Ham, even when he was not on the injury list.
While Emery has often addressed tactical reasons for keeping Ozil out, he stated after the loss to West Ham that the players in the match-day squad ‘deserved’ to be in the team.
And now, it has been reported that the Arsenal head coach has made his mind over the future of the former German international.
Mesut Ozil transfer news:
According to English outlet Daily Mail, Unai Emery wants Arsenal to find an ‘exit route’ for Mesut Ozil before the end of the January transfer window.
However, it was earlier reported by Evening Standard that Mesut Ozil wants to stay at Arsenal, with his agent Dr. Erkut Sogut saying that the midfielder is “100% committed” to the club.
The midfielder has played for only 155 minutes in the Premier League since November 25. He missed five league games due to troubles with his back and knee during this time.

However, Ozil was cleared to play in the last weekend’s game against West Ham, but Unai Emery didn’t select him for the squad.
Since December, Arsenal have dropped points in five league games, which include three defeats to Southampton, Liverpool and West Ham.
Earlier, Arsenal’s Sead Kolasinac stated that the team is behind Mesut Ozil in his period of uncertainty at the club.
“That’s the case when you’re a big star, like Mesut is,” the Arsenal player began.
Its going to be very hard for the club to ship Ozil off. No one is going to pay that wage. Maybe China at most, So if it comes down to Emery Vs Ozil, there’s only one winner. Mesut Ozil.

Thing is, arguably, there’s no conceivable “tactical decision” that legitimately puts Mesut Ozil outside a list of 18 players for any team in the world.

Lucas Torreira: “It’s incredible really to be able to be in the same squad as a player like Mesut Ozil and obviously other players too, players that have achieved a lot and have great quality. It makes me proud.”

“Of course there are always negative headlines but, as a team, we don’t pay attention to them and Mesut doesn’t either.
“That’s what’s most important. We’re all behind Mesut – all the staff, all the players.”
