MI vs SRH Preview

MI vs SRH Preview: The Sportsrush presents before you full preview of the 51st match of IPL 2019 between Indians and Sunrisers.

In an all-important clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on the Mumbai Indians. The outcome of this match might give a clearer picture regarding the teams which would qualify for the playoffs.

While Mumbai just need to win to ensure a playoff berth, Sunrisers cannot afford a loss as they would not be able to get to 16 points if they lose here. SRH sans Warner and Bairstow would need to give their 200% to get the better of Mumbai Indians at the latter’s home.

Form Guide

Mumbai Indians, who are coming off a loss, have also lost 2 of their last 3 matches and would want to end all the suspense regarding their qualification with a win here. The form of Hardik Pandya with the bat is their biggest positive and they need to play well as a unit and support each other. The bowlers need to bowl better lengths and get wickets upfront which they haven’t been able to do in the last match.

The Sunrisers have also lost 2 of their last 3 matches but would be more positive having comprehensively defeated Kings XI Punjab in their last match.

However, the departure of David Warner will leave a huge hole at the top of the order for SRH considering Bairstow also left a week back. The onus will be on Kane Williamson to motivate the team to a win here.

Team Changes

Mumbai had a torrid time at the Eden Gardens where the KKR batsmen went berserk and posted the highest score of this IPL. However, they should take it as one off game and not make any drastic change. Having said that, Barinder Sran is unlikely to play in this match since he looked woefully put of sorts.

With Benhrendorff’s departure, they might draft in Ben Cutting into the team as he can contribute with both bat and ball or else, they might choose to hand a debut to the left-armer from South Africa, Beuran Hendricks. Ishan Kishan would then come in place of Evin Lewis in that case.

Sunrisers Hyderabad need to look at a new top order combination to win them matches from now on. The departure of Warner leaves the opening slot vacant. Martin Guptill, who has been warming the bench for over a month now, should finally get his opportunity. Apart from this, this is unlikely to be any change in the SRH team combination.

Pitch and Weather Prediction

The Wankhede is expected to be a belter of a track with the ball coming in very well. The average score on this pitch has been as high as 181 and we can expect a similar, if not a bigger, score in this match. There will be very little in this pitch for the bowlers who have to maintain their lines and hope for the best.

The weather is likely to be a little humid and it will be partly cloudy throughout the match. Temperatures will remain around 28°C and the breeze from the Arabian Sea is sure to have a soothing effect on the players. Dew should not play a big role if the cloud cover persists for most of the match.

Toss Prediction

Out of the 5 matches played here, the chasing team has won thrice. Historically, the Wankhede has always been a chasing ground and so, the captain who wins the toss would make a no-brainer decision of bowling first.
