Mitchell Johnson on Shaun Marsh: Former Australian speedster bats for Shaun Marsh’s inclusion in the Test team for the India Tests.

Former Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson has lent his support behind Australian batsman Shaun Marsh’s inclusion in the Test team to face India in the first Test at Adelaide on December 6.
The senior of the Marsh brothers had become a regular in the Australian Test eleven but his dismal form in the recent times said of otherwise. In the seven matches which Marsh has played this year, he has scored 317 runs at an average of 24.38 and a strike rate of 42.60.
During Australia’s last Test assignment against Pakistan in UAE, Marsh struggled big time, scoring 14 runs in four innings at an average of 3.50 and a strike rate of 32.55. Following such numbers, a huge amount of criticism surrounded Marsh, mostly including calls of him being dropped across formats.
It was coach Justin Langer, who initially supported Marsh’s position in the ODI side and rightly so. In seven ODIs this year, Marsh has scored 416 runs at an average of 59.42 and a strike rate of 101.96, including three centuries.
Despite the continual calls for him being dropped from the Test side, it appears highly unlikely for Marsh has returned to form in the ongoing season of the Sheffield Season. In the four innings which the 35-year old southpaw has played in this season, he has registered scores of 80, 98, 21 and 163*.
Perhaps, it is Marsh’s current form which forced his former teammate in Johnson to stand by him. Johnson was at odds with former Australian bowler Jeff Thomson when he stated that Australia should ‘move on’ to the India series while backing the past players than ‘move on’ from the past players. Read his full tweet:
Well done Shaun Marsh on another 100. Apparently it’s time to move on, yep move on to the test series against India. Let’s start backing the players picked especially past players of the game. https://t.co/LNfrty5wgL

Johnson’s tweet allured several comments regarding the exclusion of not just Shaun but his younger brother Mitchell as well. The retired pacer asked the critics about their replacement for the senior Marsh. When someone mentioned Matt Renshaw, Johnson lashed out on him citing his poor form in the Sheffield season. Read Johnson’s tweet below:
Renshaw?? Hasn’t scored a run this season and you talk averages with Marsh and Marsh a better Ave. Also I’d say Marsh a better technique. Would be happy with Usman at 3

Is there a finer sight in #SheffieldShield cricket than Shaun Marsh hitting crisp cover-drives to the boundary? 😎 @WACA_Cricket @WestEndRedbacks

A fortnight ago the cricket tragics were calling for Lloyd Pope to make his Test debut and Shaun Marsh to be sent packing. The Adelaide Shield match is a great leveller.
