Mohammad Nabi: Watch Afghanistani star takes three wickets in one over vs Sri Lanka | ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

Afghanistani star takes three wickets in one over: Mohammad Nabi’s inspiring spell created turmoil among Sri Lankan batsmen at Cardiff.

During the seventh match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka at Cardiff, veteran Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi sent back three batsmen in one over to dent the opposition’s progress.

It all happened in the 22nd over of the Sri Lankan innings when Nabi ran through their middle-order. On the second ball of the over, Nabi beat Lahiru Thirimanne (25) for pace as the batsman chopped on the ball back to the stumps.

On the fourth delivery, Kusal Mendis (2) edged a ball to Rahmat Shah to walk back to the pavilion. As senior batsman Angelo Mathews walked in, Sri Lanka would have expected him to provide stability to their innings. However, Mathews (0) also edging the ball to first slip saw him taking the long walk back on the last ball of the over.

It is worth mentioning that it was Nabi who dismissed Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne (30) in the 14th over. Thus, putting a halt to a 92-run opening partnership. Having scored 79 runs in the first powerplay, Sri Lanka are last seen reeling at 178/7. A collapse 144/1 to the same speak highly of their woes with the bat.

On the contrary, Afghanistan captain Gulbadin Naib winning the toss and opting to field couldn’t have resulted in a much better result for them. Naib would be looking to not let the Sri Lankan tail spoil the party for them.
