Mourinho on Anthony Martial

Mourinho on Anthony Martial: Jose Mourinho spoke about the forward’s recent surge to form.

The spirits are relatively higher at Manchester United after a series of good results in the Premier League last month. United registered a comeback win against Newcastle United, and held Chelsea to a draw as they conceded in the last second of the game, and secured three points against Everton last weekend.

Jose Mourinho’s side will now meet Bournemouth in the league this weekend, who are currently 6th in the league. Eddie Howe’s side has been impressive in this season so far, winning 6 of their 10 league games.

Mourinho, on the other hand, will aim to bring the season back on track with a win over Howe’s men, as tough fixtures await the side. Manchester United will travel to Turin as they take on Juventus, and return to the league to play league leaders and city rivals Manchester City.

The Manchester United manager, meanwhile, spoke about one of his star performers, Anthony Martial, who has scored 4 goals in the last three Premier League games.

Mourinho on Anthony Martial:

When the season began, the relationship between Jose Mourinho and Anthony Martial was seemingly broken after the manager raised doubts over his professionalism during pre-season.

Martial’s agent, in an interview with a European media outlet, even claimed that the player wants to leave the club in the summer. However, much has changed as the football began.

The French forward regained his place in the side on the back of impressive performances this season. He netted two past Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and scored a worldly a week later against Everton, which is also nominated for the Premier League Goal of the Month.

Mourinho has now spoken on the player. The Manchester United manager has insisted that he ‘wants Martial to stay’ at the club.

“Obviously I hope they will agree,” Mourinho said on Martial’s contract.

“Everybody knows since he was in Monaco that he is talented.

“Another thing is talented player with consistency + understanding what a football match is in the globality. When you are almost reaching that level, is when you become a top player.”

“Obviously I would like him to stay. I know the club wants him very much to stay. Hopefully he is going to stay,” Mourinho added.
What next?

Manchester United will aim to secure three points as they play against Bournemouth later tonight. As the side await a tough set of fixtures next season, it is vital for Mourinho to travel to Turin with a win in the bag.
