Mourinho on Newcastle game: Jose Mourinho reveals half-time conversation with his players during the match against Newcastle.

Manchester United pulled out a stunning comeback, which was reminiscent to the days of Sir Alex Ferguson against Newcastle United. After being down 0-2 at half time, a United side inspired by Jose Mourinho’s intensity at the touchline emerged 3-2 winners.

With this win, United have now climbed to 8th position in the Premier League, with 13 points from 8 matches.

Times have been hard at Manchester United in the recent past. Ever since the start of the season, United have been in the headlines for different controversies. The board reportedly declined Mourinho his list of signings, and United failed to perform on the pitch.

The situation was further marred with a feud between Mourinho and midfielder Paul Pogba, with the duo caught arguing during a training session.

But now, it has been revealed that Mourinho took suggestions with his players, including Pogba, during the half-time talk in the match against Newcastle.

According to English media outlet The Sun, Paul Pogba told Jose Mourinho that he should drop deep and Marouane Fellaini should be brought on. Mourinho proceeded to replace Scott McTominay with Fellaini and Pogba played in front of the defence.

Paul Pogba was influential for Manchester United for the whole of the second half, and assisted Anthony Martial for a terrific backheel for the equalizer.

After the 3-2 victory, Mourinho said, “During half-time we opened our hearts and we spoke about tactical changes for two minutes.

“Then we spoke for eight minutes about other things that I thought would let the players be a little bit more free to face the second half and it became 3-2. Amazing.”

The 25-year old French midfielder has been making negative headlines ever since his spat with Jose Mourinho. However, the Manchester United fans are hopeful that things will improve after United’s dramatic win on the weekend.

What next?

Manchester United are currently 7 points behind the league leaders and city rivals, Manchester City. Interestingly, the top three – Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool, are level on points (20).

Manchester City and Liverpool played a goalless draw yesterday night. Arsenal are fourth in the table, while Tottenham completes the top-five at fifth position.
