In a recent interview with The Print, MS Dhoni revealed why he was chosen as the captain of the Indian team. However, after taking the job, he won three ICC titles.

MS Dhoni told that he was not at all part of the subject when the team management was in pursuit of naming the commander-in-chief. Dhoni feels that it’s because of his honesty and the potential to read the game, he was named as the Indian skipper.
We have heard Virat Kohli saying that there is nobody in the world who is as good as MS Dhoni in terms of planning and getting into the scheme of things.
Why the team has to worry when the best cricketing brain is there on the pitch? After calling it quits from captaincy, he still works and helps Virat Kohli to ease the pressure.
“I was not part of the conversation when I was made the captain of the team. I feel that looking at everything, maybe it was the honesty that I had, and my ability to read the game.
Reading the game is very important, and even though I was one of the youngest in the team at that point of time, when asked about my views by a senior player, I was not afraid or hesitant to share my feelings about the game.
It probably also had to do with the fact that I was quite good with the other team members in the squad at that point of time,” Dhoni told.
