Veteran keeper-batsman MS Dhoni is on the verge of new records in every match that he plays and his 300th ODI catch was another feather in his cap.

It was the 37th over and Jos Buttler and Joe Root were at the crease. The partnership could have been very dangerous for India as the two have found some form.

England started well but things changed when Kuldeep came in. English batsmen have not yet found the way to pick Kuldeep as they start either dancing down the track or sweeping everything when they see Kuldeep coming into bowl. Today as well, it was Jonny Bairstow who was bowled round the legs.

After a few dismissals, Buttler walked out to the crease. While Buttler has been the most successful English batsman off late, Root was also looking good today. Although Joe Root was not able to make an impact against India in the four matches that have been played between the two teams till now, he looked in touch today.

As Umesh Yadav ran in to bowl a shot of good length delivery outside off stump, Butler tried to at it hard. All he managed was to take thin outside edge and Dhoni did the rest behind the wickets.

There was no grand celebration which has become so typical of Dhoni in these years. Dhoni just looped the ball up in the air and came to celebrate with the team. This was Dhoni’s 300th catch which has reiterated his position as one of the greatest wicket-keepers of all time.
