MS Dhoni retirement: Yuvraj Singh comments on Dhoni’s retirement rumours
Yuvraj Singh comments on Dhoni’s retirement: The Indian all-rounder opened up on veteran wicket-keeper batsman’s retirement rumours.
Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh expects the Indian team to have started preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup to be played in Australia next year. Speaking during an event in Mumbai yesterday, the 37-year old spoke against making last-minute changes.
“The preparation for next year’s World T20 should start now. You decide your team four months before the World Cup. You have to decide on your 20 players from which 16 will be picked. You can’t shuffle, pick and drop players at the last moment. World Cup is a serious tournament,” Yuvraj was quoted as saying.
It is worth mentioning that the Indian team was found guilty of continuous chopping and changing before the ICC Cricket World Cup held earlier this year. The No. 4 position, in particular, saw different batsmen batting before and during the tournament.
Yuvraj Singh comments on Dhoni’s retirement
Any former or current Indian cricketer speaking to the reporters and not being asked about veteran wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a rarity. Yuvraj, who has played 273 international matches across formats alongside Dhoni, was eventually asked about the latter’s much-discussed retirement rumours.
“I don’t know boss. You should ask your great selectors, when you meet them. That’s their call, not mine,” Yuvraj said about Dhoni’s retirement.

In the same event, Yuvraj didn’t shy away from mentioning that the Indian team needs better selectors. He has been constantly finding faults with the selectors since his retirement earlier this year.
Post his international retirement, Yuvraj captained Toronto Nationals in the second season of the Global T20 League 2019. Yuvraj will now represent Maratha Arabians in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
