Rohit Sharma available for selection vs RR

Rohit Sharma available for selection vs RR: Mumbai Indians captain looks set to resume his IPL 2019 duties vs Rajasthan Royals.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma looks all set to walk back into Indians’ lineup for their seventh match of IPL 2019. After succumbing to a thigh or hamstring injury during a practice session, Sharma had missed MI’s last match against Kings XI Punjab.

Sharma’s availability was announced by Mumbai Indians Director of Cricket Operations, Zaheer Khan, during his press conference on the eve of match against Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai tomorrow.

In Sharma’s absence, all-rounder Kieron Pollard had led the side against KXIP. Playing an archetype captain’s innings, Pollard scored 83 (31) with the help of three fours and 10 sixes to propel Mumbai to a 198-run chase.

In five matches this season, Sharma has scored 118 runs at an average of 23.60 and a strike rate of 122.91. With four wins in six matches, Mumbai Indians are currently at No. 3 in the points table.

Below par umpiring standards have brought a lot of criticism towards IPL 2019. It was an umpiring howler which saw Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni walking infamously on to the ground from the dugout last night.

Being asked about the same, the former India fast bowler claimed umpiring to being a difficult job. Zaheer also opened up on not putting too much pressure on the umpires.
