IPL 2019 Most Watched Team: Defending Champions Mumbai Indians have also become the most watched team of IPL 2019.
Apart from dominating the tournament on the ground, defending champions of the Indian Premier League Mumbai Indians have also emerged as the most watched team of the tournament.
According to the data released by Hotstar, Mumbai Indians’ following has increased from 73 million in 2018 to a whopping 138.2 million this year.
Chennai Super Kings, one of the most successful teams in the history of IPL, ended IPL 2019 as its runners up after losing to Indians in the final. Much like the final match, Super Kings lack behind MI by a narrow margin of 0.1 million.
It is worth mentioning while Mumbai have moved to the top spot this year, Chennai have retained their top spot with respect to consumption by women.
Delhi Capitals, who finished in the playoffs last season for the first time after 2012 after converting from Daredevils to Capitals, are the third-most watched team according to this data.
Kings XI Punjab have surprised one and all after emerging as the fourth most watched team of IPL 2019. From 70 million in 2018, Punjab’s fan-following reached an impressive 125.6 million in the last season of the cash-rich league.
The likes of Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore, who are keenly followed by fans across the country, are seen struggling in this list. With 124.6 million followed under their belt, Knight Riders occupy the sixth position.
On the other hand, Royal Challengers are reeling at No. 8 with 122.8 million followed in IPL 2019.
