Giving back to the community is something that is deeply associated with NASCAR culture. Almost every other driver runs a foundation with the goal of helping out the masses and communities with all sorts of things. The Elliott family has been no stranger to this as well.

Recently, news emerged that Chase Elliott’s father, Bill Elliott, was set to part ways with land worth over $1.5 Million. Their goal? Well, to give back to Dawson County, in the form of natural preservation.
Chase Elliott’s father set to sell land for a good cause
As per recent news, Bill Elliott and his brother, Ernie Elliott, will be selling several hundred acres of land to the Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area, for the sole purpose of preservation.
Apparently, a month ago, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for the state of Georgia approved the purchase of “two tracts of land” from the Elliott family. The land is located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
“Both tracts are available because the Elliott brothers wanted to see them protected, and as such they’re selling them for below appraised value,” said Steve Friedman, the chief of real estate for the DNR. Interestingly, the sale of the land would aid in the preservation of certain state-protected species of fish in the Upper Amicalola Creek watershed.
How big are the lands and how much do they cost?
NASCAR icon Bill Elliott solely owns a 62-acre plot of land while he and his brother jointly own a larger 275-acre tract of land. The estimated costs for the first is about $301,279, and the second tract would cost around $1,324,312.
Interestingly, the DNR believes that the combined sale value for the lands comes in at a much lower price point than the average market price. But we guess that receiving a vast sum of money was not the primary goal of the Elliott’s.
Perhaps their intention was to ensure the preservation of the lands for future generations of Dawsonville County. After all, there is a reason why Bill Elliott is often called “Awesome Bill from Dawsonville” right?
