Dale Earnhardt Jr. Has Some Valentine’s Day Gifting Advice, Shares Dale Sr. Life Lesson

Being a NASCAR driver, that too one of the most iconic ones, like Dale Earnhardt Sr, does not mean that they would not have behaved just like us in their private lives. However, despite them being just like us in many ways, there were a lot of things that we never could figure out. Like what was their favorite meal, or genre of music? However, recently, Dale Earnhardt Jr. revealed the exact musical preferences of his renowned late father, Earnhardt Sr.

Getting this sneak peek into the life of the “Intimidator” was certainly fascinating, considering how the senior Earnhardt wasn’t too keen on sharing everything about himself.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. shares his father’s choice of music

When a fan inquired about his father’s musical preferences during his podcast, Junior dredged up memories from the past and shared a few artists and songs his father relished in his time.

Junior stated, “He was a big Delbert McClinton fan which I never understood that. I’ve listened to some of the Delbert McClinton songs and I just didn’t really love it but Dad seemed to like it for some reasons.”

“I remember him having a record collection in the basement of a lake house when we moved in 1981. And he had like, you know, traditional Southern Meat Loaf in Southern rock, Skynard, and all of those, you know, whatever was playing on the rock radio in the late 70s and early 80s. He had all of those albums.”

“But he liked Brooks and Dunn a bunch. Because he listened to that song black velvet, you know, they played that in the banquet for him one year when he won a championship. Which was only traditional country radio for a while. He listened to quite a bit of country, Faith Hill, he was a big Faith Hill fan. I think he got to meet her, he wore a Faith Hill T-Shirt one time underneath his uniform at a race…”

What music does Junior listen to himself?

Throughout the years it seems that Junior’s taste in music has mostly gravitated towards the punk-pop and punk-rock scene. Unlike his father, who was big in southern and country music, Junior appreciates the Punk genre more than the others. A couple of years ago the former NASCAR driver had dropped a tweet about his favorite band, which was a band called, “Dangerous Summer.”

Back in 2018, unable to attend the band’s concerts, Junior invited them to play at a NASCAR race. However, by the time the $300 Million worth ex-driver developed an affinity for the band’s pop-punk music, they had already disbanded. This didn’t deter the NASCAR Hall of Famer from connecting with the band’s frontman, AJ Perdomo.

This in turn sparked an unlikely friendship that has only grown over the years. Perdomo even attended NASCAR races at Sonoma Raceway and Auto Club Speedway. Interestingly, with Junior’s influence, the band reunited and agreed to perform at Pocono Raceway.
