Is 4x NASCAR Champ Jeff Gordon Richer Than Dale Earnhardt Jr?

Undoubtedly, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr have been two of the most well-known names in the history of NASCAR. Their popularity transcends their performances on the track, each leaving an indelible mark on the sport. Interestingly, Gordon boasts an impressive tally of 4 Cup Series championships under his belt. Meanwhile, Dale Earnhardt Jr, despite his long and illustrious career, wasn’t as lucky as Gordon.

Yet, this in no way diminishes his reputation within the sport.

Now, given their immense popularity, at least at the time when they were still racing, it’s reasonable to assume that both of them would have amassed substantial wealth over time. The question, then, is who holds the financial edge between these two iconic former Hendrick Motorsports drivers?

Is it Gordon, the 4x Cup Series championship holder, or Junior, the undying fan favorite? Who boasts a bigger financial portfolio?

How much wealth does Jeff Gordon possess?

We shall start this revelation by discussing the assets and holdings of former HMS driver and current vice chairman for the team, Jeff Gordon. As per an estimate by Wealthy Gorilla, Gordon’s total net worth in 2023 sits at a massive $200 Million.

Most of Gordon’s vast wealth comes from the lucrative sponsorship deals that he has had in his racing career. There had been several iconic brands such as Pepsi, DuPont, and Sunoco who had worked with the Cup Series driver during his prime.

Aside from this, beyond his racing interests, Gordon also has other businesses outside the world of racing. The four-time champion has investments in a winery, which produces his own line of wine. Thereby, drawing in an additional stream of revenue.

But is it enough to consider that he is richer than Junior? Well, maybe not.

Is Dale Earnhardt Jr wealthier than Gordon?

Being one of the most popular drivers of the time, Junior surely had some benefits when it came to lucrative sponsor deals lining up for him. During the prime of his career and even in the later stages, it was reported that he netted an annual paycheck in the north of $20 million as a driver. This was obviously excluding the endorsement deals. As per Wealthy Gorilla, his endorsement earning was around $22 Million per year alone.

Just like Gordon, Junior also has business interests that lie outside NASCAR. This is probably why years after his retirement, his financial portfolio just keeps growing. At the moment, Junior has an estimated net worth of $300 Million. Which is just $100 million more than Gordon.

Junior co-owns and operates his own racing team in the NASCAR Xfinity Series called JR Motorsports. Aside from that, he also has a major media company called Dirty Mo Media, which he established with his podcast back in 2013. Ever since, Dirty Mo Media has grown by leaps and bounds, with several podcasts under the banner at the moment. Interestingly, like Gordon, even Junior has his money in the alcoholic beverage business. He owns a vodka company called High Rock Vodka, which he runs with his wife.

Ultimately, circling back to the pressing question, does the four-time champion, Jeff Gordon, command a higher net worth than Dale Earnhardt Jr.?

Contrary to what one might expect, the answer is no.
